I'll Miss You When You're Gone | Skincare Edition

Don't you just hate getting to the end of a product you adored? I always find they run out at the same time too (is it a law of physics or do I just have magical unlucky powers?). I usually end up repurchasing skincare that does the job well, but I have so much I'm trying to whittle it down. So these are just temporary goodbyes, but I will miss these guys when they're all used up.

Cover FX

When it comes to makeup, testing out base products has to be my favourite thing. I'd probably disagree with that statement when my skin is having a break out moment. High end base products are something I've never really tried. Having a limited budget means I tend to opt for higher end skincare instead but I think trialling the Cover FX might have just changed my mind.

The Glow Getters

A look I am more determined to pull off is strobing. The one thing that puts me off is instead of looking youthful (which I should be at 18 anyway) and dewy skinned, I always feel like a bit of an oil slick. I'm putting down the powder for the highpoints of my face and swapping it out for the products that make me feel beautifully radiant!

Trialling Clinique

A brand I've wanted to try for the longest time has to be Clinique. Do you remember the British Beauty Blogger Clinique Box? It contained some pretty generous sample sizes and a girl has to trial something that's pretty much a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The Face Oil That Sorts Out My Oily Complexion

My skin is in need of some serious TLC as of late. It's practically every different skin type you could imagine - oily, blemish prone (the norm), dry, and normal. Combination is definitely an umbrella term here. Nevertheless the power of face oil is one I've been long exposed to but sometimes a girl forgets about her first foray into expensive skincare.

The Seventeen Stay Pout Lipstick Edit

The new and improved Jodie is actually using lipstick now. Who'd have saw that coming eh? Seventeen is a real gem of a brand and if you remember from my favourites post then you'll be familiar with the Stay Pout lipsticks that were featured. I'm here to answer your silent prayers and tell you all the need to know gossip on the range that I might possibly want one of every shade in.

Bourjois CC Cream

I can honestly say I've never tried a CC cream before. I might have tried one BB cream and after first impressions left me a little underwhelmed, you can almost excuse me for not jumping on the double letter bandwagon.

Mandara Spa | Possibly the Best Smelling Products Ever

When winter starts to roll around, so does my motivation for actually performing some sort of a body care routine. For me now is the season of indulging in baths, which means I need all of the products to help me feel as pampered as possible and I may have found my answer in the form of Mandara Spa.

Weird, Yet Charming Weather

I don't really know the aim of this post (and from the title you could presume I'm watching too much Once Upon a Time.. and you'd be right) and I feel like potentially it's how my posts have all be sounding as of late. I apologise if it annoys you as much as me! Photography is an area I really want to improve and I want any new readers or old readers to see that effort come across in all my photos. I'm trying to be more spontaneous with it too, and just take pictures as and when I feel like it, hence the one above.

My Skincare Secret

I feel like I've been a bit skin care heavy over here recently, but it's a real work in progress for me right now (hence all the posts). In the process, I've realised probably the most common sense thing - find things that work and STICK to them. No more chopping and changing for me unless a product runs out.

Eight Habits We Could All Try

I always feel like this time of year everyone wants to self improve. I'm including myself in that generalisation. Instead of the whole 'new year, new me' that always seems to pop up, I thought this Christmas season I could try to introduce some new habits that will help me to be a better version of Jodie and if you fancy it too, then I hope these help you be a better version of yourself.

Motivating the Procrastinator

You know what should be my middle name? Procrastinator. Maybe it's the fact I'm an Aquarius, or maybe it's the fact it's a learnt behaviour (shoutout to mum always saying 'I'll do the ironing now' and then proceeding to deep clean the entire house just so she didn't have to). Either way, seeing as it's a familiar habit, I'd like to think I know just the way to trick myself into actually motivating myself.

For Better Skin

I'm slightly obsessed with bettering my skin right now, it's in such a poor condition that my mission in life is to wake up with clearer skin for at least a month. We all have to dream big right? They also do say that if you can dream it you can achieve it, so I'm hoping that with some skin loving friends I'll be there in no time.

The Freebies We All Want From Glamour Magazine

Do you know how long I've wanted the Clinique lipsticks that have come as freebies with Glamour magazine? If you follow me on Twitter (which if you don't you can follow me right here) then you'll have seen my daily moans at not being able to find the nude lipstick, and as a result stubbornly not purchasing the red one.

Life Lately

Right now I'm in the mood to write and write until my mind makes some coherent sense. Lately I've been feeling both parts good and bad, and they seem to be happening in equal measures that it just gets a bit confusing sometimes. I thought I'd write a life lately post as I love to be nosy and also just to update you on everything that's going on in my life. Like the name would suggest.

So let's start with the good news. I've been selected to go for an interview at the university I've always wanted to go to for the career I really want to pursue. I'm as nervous as I am excited and I really just want to nail it so I can move forward with my life. It's at the end of the month so fingers crossed I'll know before Christmas and it'll be the best present I could receive. Having everyone else in my life go to university, with most of them achieving grades a lot lower than mine really impacted my self esteem and self worth. Although I've realised the big difference is that I know exactly what job I want and how to get there and I don't feel 'pressured' to go. I don't want to do a degree for the sake of doing one. It's ridiculously expensive and I don't want to pay for something I don't like. Now I just need to prove something I already know to my interviewers, that I'm worthy enough.

On a slightly more negative note, and  something I don't really talk much about on here is that in the past I've suffered with depression and anxiety. It sounds really cliche I know, but it's a part of me none the less. The fact I have to even say the 'cliche' thing makes my heart drop a little bit, because a mental illness should not be considered irrelevant because other people have it, and just because mine is less severe mainly due to the fact I'm in a fortunate position of I know exactly how to deal with it. Anyway now that winter is here, I've found it creeping back in a little like an old friend who you know isn't good for you. I'm trying so hard to stay on top of it and as such my motivation is pretty much in the gutter. For the last two weeks I've been posting five days a week from Monday to Friday, and now my motivation has dipped I'm thinking of going back to my Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule just until I'm feeling more positive. Although I'd love to know your thoughts on if you prefer five posts a week or just three.

Another reason for maybe dropping posts is the fact where I live seems to get no light whatsoever right now. It's been pretty much dark and gloomy for the past week and I really don't know how I'm supposed to take any photos. I also really want to start taking outfit posts of myself by myself, but I honestly have no idea how. Any tips and suggestions on this front would be majorly useful. I'm trying to find somewhere pretty that's also quite and it's proving quite elusive right now.

Sorry for the long and rambly post, I promise things will pick up here again soon. I'd also like to say thank you guys for helping me reach 500 followers. It feels a little insane that so many of you actually want to read this blog of mine. If you have any suggestions of what posts you want to see then please do let me know!

Covering Up Blemishes

powder, concealer, cc corrector
My skin has been particularly bad lately and a girl has to do what a girl has to do, cover up all the badness and pretend she has good skin. It's an art that when you practice pretty much everyday you become a little adept at. I've got it covered from calming everything down to hiding that redness that we all know.

Holly Stevens Cosmetics

Makeup posts have been a little lacking around these parts lately. Well here I am today changing all that. Have you ever heard of Holly Stevens Makeup? Nope? Neither had I. Although I think this might be my favourite photo I've taken for this blog, so thanks Holly Stevens Cosmetics. I'm getting better guys (please tell me you think the same).

Denman | The Ultimate Styling Kit

Christmas is right around the corner, and you know what that means don't you? Christmas sets! Possibly my favourite thing about Christmas (besides the buildup). Now I know it's a bit early but if you're anything like me you'll have already bought half the Christmas presents you need. I'm an organised person like that. Now if you're stuck for what gifts to get for those difficult people in your life I think I might have solved your problems, the only requirement is hair longer than a buzz cut!

Dove DermaSpa Skincare

I think you'll agree with me when I say that Dove is an iconic brand. We've all heard about it and if your Nanna was anything like mine then all she swore by was Dove. I remember sneakily nipping to her bathroom to use their body lotions and potions, and the smell is something to this day I just love. Their new DermaSpa* range smells like Dove, there's no other way to describe it and I think I might have found the bodycare that will happily see me through winter (Yep, I'm planning that far ahead).

The Importance of a Lazy Day

Everytime I open up the internet all I seem to see is tips on how to be 'efficient' or 'motivated' and 'productive'. Pretty much all the words I'd love to describe myself with on a daily basis, but I'm not a robot. For every hour of productivity I feel, there's probably about 2 hours of me that just wants to nap. I'm a human, and I'm sure I'm not the only who loves a lazy day here and there. So here I am to make you feel better about taking a lazy day, and tell you exactly why they're important.
