Nivea Shave Balm as a Primer.

Nivea Post Shave Balm
The beauty world kind of went a little crazy for this didn't it, after NikkiTutorials used it as a primer? Everyone was singing it's praises, and well, I like to be a little in the know. I mean it's dirt cheap (thanks sexist pricing) so really if it can become my go to primer, then I'm saving myself a small fortune and my makeup will last all day. It's a win-win right?

Five Things Lately.

It's been a long time since I did any sort of life update on here, and seeing as it's the last weekend in February (seriously though, this year is flying by) I figured why not? I'm hoping I can make these installments an end of the month kind of thing, but don't hold me to it.

NARS Isolde.

NARS Isolde
And so the NARS obsession begins. James kindly bought the shade Isolde for me as a birthday present. I say 'bought', he pretty much gave me the money and told me to pick what I wanted. Now Silk Road and Alahambra were both out of stock, but by some miracle Isolde wasn't. Yeah, that's right. The hardest eye shadow duo to track down was in stock, do I have to thank Zoella for not mentioning it for a while?

The Arrow Necklace.

Arrow Necklace
Arrow Necklace
Told you I was getting into the whole jewellery hype. While I'm still trying to figure out what I like and don't like, I've found myself falling a little for this arrow necklace* by Happiness Boutique. While gold is never usually my first preference, this is one that's certainly growing on me.

Tea Tree Wonders.

Tea Tree
I'm on month two of my skincare treatment from the doctors and to some extent it is working, but as I'm on the mildest form of treatment right now, I was advised it'd take until around the summer for me to notice any real differences. One thing my skin loves though is tea tree, and I've found it's a pretty good healer and preventative when it comes to those pesky blemishes.

Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita.

Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Palette

Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Palette
This is a post that's been in the works for the longest time. You might already know if you keep up with me on twitter and instagram, that James bought me the gorgeous Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette AKA 'the stuff of dreams' for Christmas.

Yep, I've had it that long and this is only the first you're hearing about it on here. Don't judge me for not being able to ruin it's prettiness, after all there's nothing quite like a new palette when you're obsessed with eyeshadow. Now I won't bore you too much, I'm sure you've all heard about this at some point already. It's encased in the most gorgeous gold and brown packaging that gives the word 'luxe' new meaning.

The prime shade (top left, we're going clockwise), is the perfect highlight shade. I'm talking a subtle champagne shade with just the right amount of shimmer. For enhancing, we have a gorgeous brown that runs a little on the red side. Nothing too scary though, it's pretty much my favourite shade in this whole little kit. Then for smoking out, there's a lovely brown, one I think that works perfectly in the crease. Okay, maybe I lied earlier when I said the enhance shade was my favourite, because the pop shade is the only that gets me weak at the knees. A gold toned shadow, with glitter running through it is one I just can't get enough of.

If you think you know pigmentation, then think again. This stuff is the definition of buttery, soft, no fallout, and all around general prettiness. Oh and to just add to the amazingness, it pretty much takes hours to crease and lasts all day. Yep, it's darn good stuff. Charlotte Tilbury got it bang on with this stuff. Now I just need more, any recommendations for your 'new to CT' gal?

Soap & Glory Do Hand Wash?

Soap & Glory Hand Food Hand Wash
Soap & Glory Hand Food Hand Cream
I didn't know it was a thing either, and from what I can tell it's a limited edition set from Christmas. I know I probably shouldn't post about something you can't get your hands on, but I just had to feature them. They're making me enjoy hand washing, words I thought I'd never utter.

The Brown Liner Conundrum.

Babylon Brown eyeliner
One thing I've always been is a black eyeliner type of girl, never have I strayed and never was I planning to. It's a love affair that was going as strong as time, then the Eye of Horus Liquid Define Liner in Babylon Brown came into my life.

Why Failure Is Important.

Why Failure is Important
I think failure is a topic that rarely gets talked about, and if it is then it's something that's always viewed as a negative thing. I'm not saying failure feels like a walk in the park, because it doesn't. What I am saying, having faced failure more times than I can count, is that in hindsight it's always a good thing. I'm sure we've all failed at some point and the lessons it provides you with are sometimes invaluable, and here's why.

The Ring.

As ominous as the title sounds, we aren't talking about the Lord of the Rings one here. Instead I'm talking about this lovely silver ring that my Auntie bought me for my birthday. A jewellery person is one thing I'm not, but when I opened my present and saw this, something just clicked. For the first time ever.

The Shorter 'Do.

Medium length hair
Told ya that pictures of my now shorter hair were coming. Putting my face in front of a camera is something that makes me a little bit uncomfortable, but I'm hoping with some persistence I'll find my angles and be able to work them like the gals and guys do on America's Next Top Model. For the time being, smiling Jodie is in full force. Now I just need to get the pout down. *takes a million selfies*

How To Take The Best Photos In Winter.

Natural light is the best companion for pretty photos, but in winter, with the shorter days it's a bit like gold dust. Especially if you have a full time job, my soul bleeds for you a little bit. The shortest day of the year has passed, so we're technically through the worst of it, but it's still pretty abysmal out there. I've improved my photography a lot over the last few months, and I thought I'd give you my best tips for these easy breezy, light and airy photos.

Meet my new Molang Diary. I've had a lot of questions asking me where I got this little guy from. It's the cutest diary I think I've ever laid my eyes upon. A word of warning though, I do believe it's from Korea so there might be a few words in here you don't quite understand. It's my new blogging planner, and right now, it's doing a pretty fine job.

Revlon 'Perfect Pair' Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Polish

Perfect Pair
One thing I've really enjoyed lately is painting my nails. My nails have been pretty bare for a long time, I mean when do you really see a nail polish post on here? Never is the answer. For some reason the nail painting bug has bit me, and with a few Essie shades in my collection (you'll see them soon, don't worry) and an actual nail care routine, I'm game for this to happen.

Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Blogging

In about 2 months time this little blog of mine will be turning one. The fact I've managed to stick to something for so long with no one to motivate me, but me, deserves to be celebrated in some shape or form. I've learnt a lot in that small space of time, but there are some things I wish I knew before I actually decided to start up Jodie Loue.
