Saving my Bacon

October 16, 2015Beauty

Me and my skin just haven’t been getting along lately, blemish after blemish it just kept getting worse. I upped my skincare and well, my skin decided to do the same.
Instead of waking up to angry inflamed redness, I was now dealing with very minimal grievances that I could actually handle, and now even some days I can go without a concealer. Talk about improvement, eh?

I suppose we should go through this like a routine, and cleanser comes first. My saviour comes in the form of the Avene Cleanance Cleanser. It really removes all the grime on my face without making my skin feel tight afterwards. My skin feels clean and yet smooth after use. More importantly I don’t break out when using this cleanser, but in fact do the opposite. It’s a real gem, and a certain repurchase seeing as I have barely any left! I’m sure you’ve all heard about La Roche Posay Serozinc. While it may not be revolutionary, it certainly does calm down blemishes thanks to the added zinc sulphate solution. Spraying this on my face after cleansing, rather like a toner, not only feels refreshing, but I always like to think it’s actually calming everything down. Plus now it’s easier to get your hands on it in the UK, I don’t think I could ever not use it when my skin is having a moment. Of course you have to use some sort of serum and my two favourites have to be the Effaclar Duo + and the Avene Cleanance Expert. The Avene serum is my morning choice and really soothes and calms my skin, while for night time use, I have to use the La Roche Posay offering. Not only does it unclog my pores, but it really works to banish my blemishes, and with regular use it’s almost a preventive measure too. My moisturiser has to be mentioned because it really has been a lifesaver, and I’ve only noticed my skin improving when I use this regularly. The Pure & Clear moisturiser is lightweight yet effective. It’s formulated for acne, and my favourite thing about this is it doesn’t break me out. A new discovery of mine is the Nexcare Acne pads. I desperately bought them off eBay when my skin was at it’s worst and they are a miracle. I’m a picker and it’s a fact I hate. Instead of picking I now place one of these bad boys directly on my spot, and with 12 hours it quite literally draws all the gunk out. Slightly gross but it gets the job done. It’s like the spot was never there in the first place and I’ve never needed to use more than one on a blemish. Afterwards there’s no inflammation and no spot. Now I’ve discovered them, I don’t think I could be without them!

Have you got any tips for improving blemish prone skin? What’s your favourite product to help stop spots?
