The only thing that ever put me off buying the real Beauty Blender was the fact I’d essentially be paying £20 for a sponge I’d never be able to keep clean. The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge was a quarter of the price and if it was a pain to keep clean then I wouldn’t feel too bad about throwing it away.
I love a good challenge so when I got my hands on this one, the quest to keep it clean began. I do the usual pre-makeup application routine of dampening it and then go to town blending and buffing my foundation and concealer in. If you’re on the fence about trying a sponge to apply your makeup with, buy one and try it. Nothing will quite convert you until you see the near flawless application it provides. It’s probably why I’m more determined than ever to keep it clean, I don’t think applying my base will ever be the same without this.
Okay, so what do I do? Remember when I told you all how I cleaned my makeup brushes? Well I pretty much do the same technique. After I’m finished applying my makeup, I run it until water and just squeeze it a little. I then grab some soap and pretty much work it up into one real big lather and keep on doing it until it looks brand new. The RT sponge in the photo above is one I’ve use for the past two months. It looks pretty clean, right? I’m going to just go ahead and pat myself on the back.
Will you be trying this? How do you clean your Beauty Blender or RT sponge?
