For the longest time I have been in need of upgrading everything to do with my hair routine. Hair care was never high on my priority list, and I used to stick my barnet up into a ‘messy’ bun or ponytail. Then I booked in with my amazing hairdresser and transformed my brunette mane into luscious blonde locks.
I’d been using old Tresemme hair straighteners for way longer than they should’ve been used before I decided to purchase the Cloud Nine Alchemy Collection. I had a treat myself moment, and I hold zero regrets about doing so. Priced at £119, they aren’t exactly the most affordable option, however in my opinion, they are worth the price I paid. This set is a limited edition Christmas special and comes with a luxurious carry case, a heat resistant guard, and a tortoiseshell wide tooth comb.
There’s a couple of reasons why these straighteners are worthy of a blog post of them own. Maybe I’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, but when a pair of straighteners can turn itself off to prevent fires and save energy, well it’s a first class ticket to a blog post. Another reason is the fact to turn them on, you tap the plates together, and three quick, successive taps reduces the temperature. For a girl who really had no interest in haircare, this is all revolutionary.
This has two heat temperatures, 195 degrees, and 165 degrees. Both work beautifully to give that sleek, smooth, straight look. Cloud Nine claim that these straightener plates have mineral infused, ceramic surfaces which help with styling the hair at much lower temperatures. Not only does this straightener reduce the likelihood of burnt, frazzled hair, it also actually helps keep hair straightened. I’ve used many hair straighteners in the past and a couple of hours later, my hair is wavy and a bit all over the place, however it’s a completely different story with these. I manage 4-5 days with poker straight hair after using these. To me, that’s an amazing feat. Being blonde also means I wash my hair at maximum twice a week, so these really help keep my hair healthy by reducing how often I need to straighten it.
The heat guard is a heat guard, I really cannot say much other than it does the job it’s set out to do. The case is beautiful and I love how little space it takes up once packed inside. I do want to say that the wide toothed comb is perfect for relaxing curls after doing that whole shebang, and whilst I’m yet to master curls from straighteners, the comb is just exactly what I wanted.
